Dr David Mason - Practice Owner/ Veterinarian
- B.V.Sc, MAC.V.Sc, CMAVA, Cert.BA
I graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1999, and started my veterinary career at the Whittlesea Animal Hospital in Victoria, working with both large and small animals for three years. In 2002 I undertook a Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. Next I went to work as a vet in the UK for 12 months and have been with the Adelaide Animal Hospital team since July 2004. I still have a strong interest in surgery, recently receiving my Membership of the College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery. I also have an interest in ultrasonography and radiography.
In my spare time I enjoy cycling, snow skiing and bushwalking, as well as the renovation of our newly acquired, but quite old home, and spending time with my wife and daughter. I have a dog, a cat and "agisted" chickens and rabbits.
Dr Bryony Senic - Veterinarian
- B.Sc.
- B.V.M.S.
I am originally from South Australia spending time both in a small country town on the Eyre Peninsula and in Adelaide for my secondary schooling years.
I completed my Veterinary degree at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia in 2007 and have been working with the wonderful team at Adelaide Animal Hospital since January 2008.
I have a particular interest in both surgery and internal medicine and hope to further my studies in these areas in the future.
I have two dogs Ebony a black Labrador and Pixie a black Cocker Spaniel.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, walking the dogs, playing sport, reading, cooking, travelling and socialising with my friends and family.
Dr Piri Cutts - Veterinarian
- B.Sc
- B.V.M.S.
I am originally from Melbourne, VIC, and obtained my veterinary degree at Murdoch University in WA. I have moved to Adelaide with my beautiful 3 yr old Kelpie cross Baci, for the amazing opportunity to work with the brilliant, knowledgeable, skillful and supportive Adelaide Animal Hospital team.
All my life I have been passionate about animals and their welfare, and becoming a veterinarian was my dream. I am excited to finally put all my hard years of training and study into practice. Over the years to come I hope to broaden and strengthen my knowledge and skills in topics of special interest to me including animal behaviour, internal medicine, surgery, and ultrasonography.
When I'm not busy being a vet, I love being outdoors - particularly the beach and ocean, surfing, running with my dog, going to the gym, dancing and music, traveling, reading, and spending ‘quality time' with my wonderful family and friends.
Dr
Kylie Clifford - Veterinarian
- B.V.Sc
I started with Adelaide Animal Hospital in June of 2008. I graduated from Melbourne University in 1998 and worked in (slightly) mixed practice in country Victoria before heading to the UK for two and a half years. I locumed in several practices in between travelling extensively and also worked on the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001.
I have been working in small animal practice in Adelaide for the last 6 years and look forward to the opportunity of broadening my knowledge in a hospital with such a high standard of facilities and staff. Outside of work, my passion is the Argentine tango and so I spend most of my time involved with dancing and catching up with friends and family.
Dr Chiew Lian Khut - Veterinarian
- B.V.Sc
- B.Sc (Biomedical Science)
Chiew completed her veterinary training at The University of Melbourne in 2006. After working at a small animal practice in Melbourne, she returned to Adelaide to be close to her family and friends and joined Adelaide Animal Hospital in December 2008.
She is currently undertaking post-graduate studies in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology). She lives with her partner Eric and their 4-year old cat Mr. Darcy. She also shares her parent's Jack Russell Terriers, Molly and Phoebe. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and has a special love for cacti and succulents. One of her many dreams is to have an extensive, sustainable garden in the future.
Dr Hayley McPhee - Veterinarian
- B.V.Sc
- Post Graduate Radiology
- Post Graduate Surgery
- Post Graduate Behavioural Medicine
I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989. I spent the first half of my career in referral equine/small animal practices here and interstate, as well as the obligatory UK/European working holiday for 12 months. I then decided to concentrate solely on a career with dogs and cats. After a short stint locuming, I started at Prospect Rd Veterinary Hospital when it was only a two vet practice. How times have changed.
I have undertaken 12 month post graduate courses in Radiology, Surgery and Behavioural Medicine through the University of Sydney. I enjoy soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and have a particular interest and empathy for canine behaviour problems, especially anxiety and aggression.
Currently I work part time, devoting the rest of my time to bringing up two small, exuberant children and failing in my duties as a domestic goddess. Apart from going to Qld to see family and friends, my travelling plans are curtailed for the moment, but I have trekked in the Indian Himalayas and participated in desexing Indian street dogs. When I get the chance, I like walking, cycling and the occasional hit of tennis.
Our family shares our home with Fergus, an adorable golden Kelpie x Labrador, who has taught me a lot and is the reason I now have such a keen interest in behaviour. Sherman, the little bowed legged Jack Russell Terrier is the reason we do not own a cat.
I enjoy working in this busy practice with it's interesting and varied caseload and look forward to any changes and improvements a change of ownership will bring.
Dr Mark Newman - Veterinarian

I always wanted to be a vet and I have a passion for all aspects of small animal veterinary practice, but in particular surgery. I have completed an internship in small animal surgery and hope to continue my training in the field. I count myself as very lucky to work in a profession that is both challenging and rewarding.
I do not have any pets at the moment but that may change in the near future! In my spare time I like swimming and reading, and have recently enrolled in a postgraduate Masters of Veterinary Studies.

Dr Alexander Gauld - Veterinarian

As a child I lived on a small farm in the Adelaide Hills where we raised Jersey cows, sheep and chickens. I completed my Veterinary degree at the University of Queensland in 2009. I am passionate about animals and their care and particularly interested in surgery and ultrasonography. I am planning to form a local indoor soccer team and enjoy the opportunity to cycle, swim, go fishing, socialise with friends and family, and play the occasional computer game. I would also like to do a bit more travelling if I could squeeze it in somewhere.
I am very excited about becoming the newest member of the Adelaide Animal Hospital team and look forward to working with such a highly skilled, professional and welcoming group.
Dr Nina Bray - Veterinarian
- B.Sc.
- B.V.M.S. (Hons)
- Post Graduate in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care

I have been lucky enough to be working at the Adelaide Animal Hospital for two years now. I thoroughly enjoy my time at work, with the diversity of cases and great team keeping me motivated. In 2008 I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Ophthalmology through Sydney University.I graduated from Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia in 2002. It was in the UK that I met my fiancé, Garry. We now live in Mount Barker with our cat, Max, whom some of you may recall from past newsletters. We have recently added Matilda, an exuberant Labrador, to our family as well.
Having grown up in Strathalbyn, I was very happy to return to South Australia after several years away. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking and straightening out the gardening in our new home.
Dr Delwyn Fenby - Veterinarian
- B.Sc. (Hons)
- B.V.Sc. (Dist)
After 12 years in the corporate world developing products for Unilever and Arnott's Biscuits, I decided to return to full-time study to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. I completed my veterinary studies at Massey University, New Zealand in 2009 and then made the decision to cross the Tasman to join the exceptional team at Adelaide Animal Hospital.
After five years of study I'm still adjusting to now having some spare time in which to do things. I love to travel and am looking forward to exploring what South Australia has to offer. I love anything to do with food and wine and was very excited to discover the central markets and to know that I am living in a city surrounded by some of the best red wine regions in the Southern Hemisphere. I attempt to balance my love of food by 'being active' and enjoy running around a netball or squash court.
I have two cats, both of whom are still in New Zealand. Fraggle has been successfully rehomed with my parents, however I hope to have my 'Abby-Tabby' Bikila join me in Adelaide later in the year.

Joined the Adelaide Animal Hospital team in September 2004 as Practice Manager, before this I was employed by Mayne Pharmaceuticals for twelve years in a middle management role. I have also had experience in the banking industry and the retail industry at Dymocks book store. I have completed a Certificate in Frontline Management, Certificate in Small Business Management, Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Practice Management and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I love studying and will continue to do so, as I find it rewarding learning new skills that I can use and implement in my daily role to benefit the staff, the clients and the hospital.
I am very passionate about animals and their well being, I have always brought my own gorgeous Golden Retrievers Maxy and Suzy here in the past and I am confident in the hospital's ability and care of my animals. I love all animals and am prone to collecting strays along the way and helping them find their way home.
My other interests include playing competitive squash, travelling anywhere especially if there is snow skiing involved or heat sun and a pool or a beach. My favourite hobby though is spending time with Maxy and Suzy and their friends at the park.
I am very enthusiastic about my role and have a passion for organising and planning the daily and future operations of the hospital and helping the staff meet their goals. The Adelaide Animal Hospital is a great place to work with a great team of highly qualified vets, nurses and receptionists. I look forward to my future here and hope to meet many clients and many more beautiful animals along the way.

Sharon has been welcomed to the Adelaide Animal Hospital team to assist in the human resources management of the business, an area that relates directly to her practical experience across a diverse range of industries in Human Resources, Administration and Customer Service along with her degree qualification attained in 2005 at the Adelaide University.
Sharon has joined our team after recently playing a key senior role in establishing a new Adelaide Hills small business that today, is thriving in its industry with local community support. Her drive and enthusiasm for working with people and animals has brought her to Adelaide Animal Hospital where she intends to play an integral role in the continued development of a successful and rewarding workplace culture for our staff, an incredible customer service excellence for our customers and an enjoyable attentive experience for our patients.
In her own time, Sharon is an active home renovator, garden designer of her own garden, paints in oils when time permits and enjoys maintaining a healthy active lifestyle. Always by her side is her jet black and ever-so-loving Cocker Spaniel, Billy, who truly believes that every visitor visits the home only for him and who, on joining the family, was formally knighted by her youngest son as 'Sir Billy Black Buddy Boy Wynd'. Yes, Billy is definitely King of our Castle!
Gloria Gore - Accounts Manager
- Certificate II in Accounting
I have been working at Adelaide Animal Hospital since December 1997. My role is bookkeeping, along with many other clerical duties. I have always worked in clerical positions and have always enjoyed this type of work, along with courses I have done in computing and accounting. I did work in a craft giftware business for about nine years when my boys were young. I served customers and also packed orders to be sent out by couriers. This business was sold and went to Melbourne and that is when I started at Adelaide Animal Hospital.
I am married and as I've said before have 2, now grown up, boys named Ryan and Adam. They are tertiary students, and live at home with us in the Adelaide Hills.
We adopted two stray cats named Timmy and Tildy (short for Matilda), from Adelaide Animal Hospital in 1999. Timmy is a very relaxed cat, and Tildy was a little anxious, but in her old age is becoming more smoochy, to our delight. We also adopted a stray female Tenterfield named Lucy in 2000 who is always energetic. We enjoy their company and wouldn't be without them now.
Other than working I enjoy reading, dining out, catching up with friends and family, and going for walks with Lucy.
I enjoy working at Adelaide Animal Hospital and look forward to the ever bright future with the great AAH team.
Donna Patton - Accounts Coordinator
- Certificate in Customer Service Management - Managing Teams, Grievances and Disputes
- MYOB Intermediate
- Certificate Quickbooks
I am a recent addition to the Administration Team, fulfilling the Accounts Coordinator position. I am returning to the work force having spent the previous seven years being a full time mum. My children are now well established at school and I have decided to re-join the workforce. Throughout my life I have had several pets and will be looking to have another sometime in the future.
Originally raised on a farm near Streaky Bay (South Australia), my upbringing was always surrounded by animals. There were always working dogs, sheep and poultry, and of course the odd stray cat running around.
I have had numerous administrative roles throughout my working life including Office Clerk, Receptionist, Secretary, Customer Relations and Sales. Some of my responsibilities whilst employed in these positions included running two offices, handling sales from shoes to safes, and customer relations at Transport SA. All of these positions varied from small to large team environments.
Outside of work I am busy trying to keep up with my girls and their needs. I enjoy socialising with friends and family, spontaneous family outings, reading and exercising.
To be involved with a team that is full of knowledge, friendly and dedicated to their work, makes me very fortunate to become the newest member of the Adelaide Animal Hospital Administration team. I am looking forward to increasing my knowledge of the animal care industry, from an administrative view point, and am pleased to be working with such a positive team.

I have recently started this exciting venture as Client Relations Coordinator with the Adelaide Animal Hospital. With the retail industry in my past and the animal industry my passion I now am very much looking forward to embarking on this new path.
There is so much diversity at the hospital as to where I can take this role and at this point I am just absorbing as much as I can to further myself and see where I can go. This is the beginning of a wonderful challenge.
The team at Adelaide Animal Hospital are a wonderful lot who all share a great love for the industry so the transition from retail has been an easy one. Thankyou!

I come from a retail background where I have worked in major department stores, fashion and sport stores. I enjoy the customer service side of my job and look forward to helping the clients of the Adelaide Animal Hospital with a high standard of customer care and service.
I also have a crazy 3yr old Rotti called Maya, who makes me laugh in some way every day. Maya loves to go for walks, watch TV, make new friends and tear apart soccer balls. She is my "toddler in disguise".
I look forward to meeting all the clients and their beloved pets, or as I call mine "my four legged hairy daughter".
Lani Gibb - Client Relations
- Diploma of Arts
- Level 2 Occupational Health and Safety
I’ve had a diverse range of careers and jobs over the years. Working in the travel industry led to opportunities to travel to some amazing places and also a stint living in Japan for six months. In the performing arts industry I worked predominantly as a stage manager on productions such the Adelaide Fringe Festival and Womadelaide.
I then started working with animals, which has developed into a true passion and a thirst for knowledge in animal behaviour. A passion I’ve always had, coming from a family of animal lovers. I previously worked at the RSPCA and Animal Welfare League caring for and learning about dogs, cats and other animals. I have 2 dogs, one from each shelter – ‘Kahlo’ a Bull Terrier/ Basenji Cross and ‘Ella’ a Weimaraner Cross and a cat ‘Picasso’adopted from a friend. I enjoy discovering with my dogs the constant joys of the human/animal bond.
I look forward to working with the dedicated and knowledgeable team at Adelaide Animal Hospital and providing you with excellent customer care for you and your pet.
Fiona - Client Relations

I love meeting all the animals that come into our clinics daily and enjoy meeting their owners too! It is great working with a team that share the same love and passion for all animals and I look forward to my future with Adelaide Animal Hospital.
Jacqui Johnson - Client Relations
- Certificate IV in Firstline Management
I was very fortunate to start work with the fantastic team at the Prospect Road Veterinary Clinic early 2010. Coming from an employment background of Retail and Office Management, it has been an absolute dream to be able to incorporate these skills within the animal care industry.
To date I have been able to focus my love for animals, not only by sharing my life with my needy, faithful friend, my domestic long hair cat Marley, but through my volunteer work with the Fauna Rescue Society. My volunteer work involves rescuing injured or orphaned native animals and getting them help or caring for them myself until they are ready for release. I have found myself specialising in native ducklings/ducks. Whilst at times I find my self groaning at the mess in my backyard, it is always a special moment when I get to release them back to the area they were born.
Along with my husband Steve, I love gardening, cooking from the garden, and getting away on camping trips. I also captain two social netball teams, and in my spare time catch up with my friends and family as regularly as possible.
Since my time with the Prospect Road Veterinary Hospital, I have been amazed at the knowledge and skills of the friendly, helpful team and have already learned so much. I look forward to continually building my knowledge of the animal care industry and getting to know the pet owners and the pets that we so diligently care for here at the Hospital.
Tracey Hunt - Veterinary Nursing Coordinator
- Certificate in Veterinary Nursing
I commenced working as a veterinary nurse in 1987 in a mixed animal practice in Queensland. As I was still at school when I started nursing I could only work after school, weekends and school holidays, so in 1989 when I moved with my family to Adelaide I gained a full time position in a veterinary practice where I worked for ten and a half years as a veterinary nurse. During this time I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1991 and received an Australasian award for Excellence in Veterinary Nursing in 1996.
In 1999 I joined the team at Adelaide Animal Hospital. I worked in the capacity as Practice Manager until October 2004 when I took maternity leave for the arrival our second child. After 7 months maternity leave I returned to Adelaide Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Nurse. Two children were not enough so along came the third in June 2006 and once again I have returned to Adelaide Animal Hospital.
I am very passionate about veterinary nursing and the veterinary industry in general. During my career I have been actively involved in committees relating to the veterinary industry and am currently a committee member on the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia on both Divisional and National levels.
My family includes my two beautiful daughters, Claire born October 2002 and Kate born November 2004, a handsome son Lachlan born June 2006 and my husband Stuart. I am a devoted pet owner with two cats - Sonia and Pascal and a beautiful Golden Retriever called Jake.
Adelaide Animal Hospital is a great place to work with a great team of competent and highly qualified vets, nurses and receptionists. I consider myself to be a competent veterinary nurse with high standards and feel privileged to be a part of this team and to be able to look after your pets.
Heather Lyman - Senior Veterinary Nurse

I have been a member of the AAH team since 1999 as a senior qualified veterinary nurse. In 2002 I travelled overseas to London to expand my veterinary nursing skills for a period of six months. I worked in a quiet small and large animal practice in the country town of Wendover and also at an emergency and referral centre in Wimbledon.
In 2005 I completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Animal Studies, majoring in Wildlife Biology with the University of Queensland. Last year I was also fortunate enough to broaden my knowledge and skills whilst nursing for a few months at the Adelaide Zoo.
My interest here include emergency and critical care, wildlife nursing and I am also the coordinator of the Cat Adoption program.
I have four cats at home that can play fetch - Homer, Amara, Louis and Mo. When I am not at work I regularly participate in Hip Hop classes, gardening and am a keen follower of motor sports and love travelling.
Stefan Roma - Senior Accredited Veterinary Nurse

My other special interest lies in veterinary anaesthesia and I maintain all the specialist equipment that is used when your pet requires an anaesthetic.
2009 is my 15th year of nursing and I enjoy it more today than when I first started 15 years ago. I spend most of the time working in the hospital but do occasionally work the desk.
I have an unruly and somewhat aggressive Cattle Dog called Sanchez (named after the great Maxican soccer goal keeper, Oswaldo Sanchez, due to his amazing ball catching ability), and an indoor cat called Lily (named after the beautiful, yet poisonous flower).
My interests outside of work include the 'real' football (Liverpool and Juventus), Motor racing (Ferrari and Ford), 8-call, golf, cruising in one of my cars, playing video games, walking my dog and enjoying a cold beer on a hot day.

- Certificate in First Aid
I have been a qualified veterinary nurse for over 25 years now. It has been 18 months since Adelaide Animal Hospital acquired the Prospect premises and I am pleased to say it has been an exciting, often challenging time but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Brodie, my Border Collie is no longer a pup, now in Grade 3 at Doggy School and beginning trials. Matty and Amber, my poodles, still wish daily that Bordie would just disappear and the house could be less active again. My four bunnies still run around in the backyard, the turtles are in hibernation and the cockatiel is looking for a new friend.
I have recently undertaken a course in Frontline Management and am enjoying this immensely.
I love seeing our clients and the furry or feathered animals in their family and assisting the vets to keep these special members of my life happy and healthy.
I still love visiting schools and promoting the Pet Pep program, educating children on responsible pet ownership. They are, after all, our next generation of pet owners.

Since moving to Prospect I have become involved with helping Jasmine organise and run the Puppy Pre-School classes. I am a member of the Australian Pet Dog Training Association.
I own two Siberian Huskies who I rehomed some time ago now as adult dogs. I enjoy working with the team at Adelaide and Prospect because they are a great team to work with and provide our clients' pets with the level of care they need and deserve.
Rebecca Burdon - Veterinary Nurse

- Certificate I in Introduction to Veterinary Nursing
I joined Adelaide Animal Hospital in June 2006 as an animal caretaker after working in childcare for 5 years. Growing up in the country with animals of all kinds has always been my love. I began my studies that year and finished my veterinary nursing certificate in 2009, and thoroughly enjoy working in the industry as a qualified nurse.
Adelaide Animal Hospital has enabled me to experience many opportunities including the chance to continue to learn everyday. I particularly enjoy working out in the hospital, whether it be nursing sick patients, anaesthetic monitoring or emergencies.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym and spending time with friends and family - and my cat Osky of course!

I have been working at the Adelaide Animal Hospital since the end of May 2007. I began as an Animal Caretaker after only having experience with working at a riding centre and teaching children how to ride. Towards the end of my school years I decided that I wanted to become a Veterinary Nurse. At the age of thirty I decided to change my career path and landed in Heywood Veterinary Clinics in Portland, Victoria. There I started as Customer Relations but soon discovered my interest in Orthopaedic Surgery and moved into surgery. I was there for over two years and enjoyed the variety of small, large and wild animals that we treated, especially x-raying a Wedge tailed eagle.

The passion and connection that I have had with animals since I was only a small child has led me to the commencement of a long anticipated and welcomed career change working at the Adelaide Animal Hospital.
At home I have a rather extensive extended family. I have 6 cats; Frodo, Monty, Millie, Henry, Leo and Wentworth. 5 of these cats either strolled into my yard in need or were found homeless and sought refuge in our home. I also have 3 dogs; Winnie, Suzie and an 11 month old Samoyed named India.
For the past year I have been working towards obtaining my certificate in Animal Care and will begin my veterinary nursing studies in 2009. I am so excited to have now turned my desire to help animals into a reality and am so lucky to have been given the opportunity by the team at the Adelaide Animal Hospital. I eagerly look forward to the challenges and amazing experiences that working with animals will bring.

Lola - Burnside Clinic Cat
Lola came to live with us at our Burnside Vet Clinic when she was 4 years old in 2004. She is very quiet by nature and fits into the clinic cat life with ease, although there are times when she escapes to her bedroom for some time out from the extra energetic dogs and kids.
Lola just loves her dinner and has been on a diet for as long as we can remember, which has paid off. When she came to us she weighed 9kg and is now down to a much healthier 7kg.
She also has a very busy daily schedule and likes routine. It starts by eating breakfast, scratching her claws on the mat that sits on the scales, sitting on the counter at reception, snoozing in the sunny patches that come through the windows and then eating dinner.
Lola's favourite junk food is potato chips and will try to swipe them from your hand when you're not looking. Of course she is not allowed to have them!
Lola occasionally helps us out with our blood donor program, and in return just loves sitting on a lap for a pat.
Fred - Prospect Clinic Cat
Fred arrived at our hospital with his sister Ginger back in 1997, and since then has been a permanent fixture at the Hospital.
Fred loves to say hello to everyone that comes in and is often sitting on the front desk with the girls making sure that everything is running smoothly. He loves a good scratch under his chin and a pat on the belly (they are his favourite spots) and will often reward us with a loud purr and a kiss.
Fred likes to try and get the girls to turn on the taps for him as he likes to have a drink from them but that is a special treat. We also have to watch him when we have our cups of tea as he will try and steal a sip from our cups!
Every now and then Fred likes to venture outside for some sun and a roll around but rarely goes beyond the car park.
