Dogs

Buster is a 13 week old Bichon Frise male puppy that presented to the clinic several weeks ago with a sore left front leg. He had been 'playing' on the trampoline when he accidentally fell off. X-rays of Buster's front leg showed that he had fractured the humerus bone near his elbow joint.

Amy is one of the happiest dogs you could ever meet. She has been coming to us regularly since a puppy and especially over the last 18 months since we discovered she had a blood abnormality causing her to have a very low platelet count. Platelets are needed to make the blood clot. Amy never complains at all despite us having to do regular blood tests. She always remains her happy self.

BJ, a one year old female Pug, presented to the Hospital in early September with a steadily enlarging abdomen. After Dr Foreman performed an ultrasound, BJ was found to be carrying four puppies. This was a big surprise for the owners as they didn't know BJ was expecting! On the 22nd of September, BJ gave birth naturally to 4 beautiful puppies - three female and one male.

His owner had obtained him as an adult dog and he had a background of being mistreated as a puppy. Despite this Rommel is just the most placid and loving dog that you can imagine.

This month we introduce Max, an exuberant four and a half year old black kelpie cross. Max is representative of a growing number of patients that we, diagnose and treat (in most cases successfully) with chemotherapy for various Cancers.

Samson came to us as a very sick but brave little puppy. Over the weekend his concerned owners took him to the Emergency Centre as he was vomiting and had diarrhoea. A test by the Veterinarians at the centre revealed Samson had parvovirus.

Meet Tia, a very energetic one year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Tia came to us late one afternoon very much in distress. She had been having a wonderful time at her place up in the hills chasing her canine companion and playing with a pine cone. They had been at it for a couple of hours when suddenly Tia seemed to have trouble breathing and began gagging.

Meet little Lili, a 6 month old Maltese Shitsu cross. We first met Lili when she was referred to us by her normal vet. They were concerned that Lili was small for her age and unusually inactive - strange behaviour for a 6 month old puppy! Lili had some blood tests done which showed that there was a problem with her liver, but which needed an ultrasound to confirm it.

Tuff is 8 years old fox terrier. He is a very lucky dog, his dad narrowly escaped the London underground bomb blast recently by choosing the next carriage, and Tuff has recovered well from Addison's disease.

Tess, is a beautiful 2 year old female blue Border Collie. She came to the clinic as her owner was concerned that she was not eating and was restless at home. Tess was also not desexed as her owner thought he might like to breed from her.
